Hooke Park had legendary structures designed by Frei Otto to look into innovations using round wood from forest thinnings, a neglected but sustainable resource. The relationship between form and materiality in architecture was explored including hands-on workshops.
An approach where construction confronts representation and expresses architecture through physical architectural means. “Thinking with the hands,” leading to a fusion between of design concepts, structural design and choice of building technology, three important subjects that commonly have been handled as separate issues.
